Practicing Lifestyle Medicine reminds me of the beautiful intricacy of the body. How, when we do all of the things our parents told us to do as kids—eat right, play outside (exercise), go to bed early (get good rest), stay away from “the bad stuff” (tobacco, alcohol, substances), and have fun (manage stress and create relationships)—we can often gain health and wellness. Our body knows how to run like a well-oiled machine. It’s usually the way we treat our bodies that causes the breakdown.
